Soumiya Lakshmi Krishnaswamy
Soumiya Lakshmi Krishnaswamy is a Brooklyn-based painter and installation artist. Born in Boston to FOB Indian immigrants, she earned her BFA from the Boston University and her MFA from The American University, was a resident at the Aegean Center, and a nomad gypsy everywhere. She has exhibited around the US and abroad. Soumiya explores ways to communicate the experience of displacement, identity, inner struggles, and time, via viscerality, mark, and humour. Her work has been reviewed in Sculpture Magazine and she has been curated into shows by critics including Lucy Lippard and Jerry Saltz.
